What "one-time editable" means

A one-time editable QR code is a dynamic QR code you buy with a single payment. The printed pattern points to a short link, and you can change where that link goes at any time, for as long as you use the code, without another bill.

The label covers very different products, so check four things before you buy one anywhere:

Can you edit it after printing?

Some generators that advertise a one-time price sell static codes. A static code stores the link inside the pattern itself, so the link can never change once it is printed.

How many edits do you get?

Some pay-once tools cap how often you can change the destination. Ours has no edit cap, so a code on a sign can follow a listing, a menu or a manual through every update.

How many scans?

Some plans throttle or switch off a code after a scan quota. Ours has no scan limit and no overage fee.

What if the company closes?

A code is only as permanent as the company behind it. We commit to at least 120 days' notice before any shutdown and to keep redirects online for 10 years after it.

The last check is why we call these permanent QR codes. Read the full continuity commitment or the license terms.

How to make a one-time editable QR code

  1. Paste your link into the tool at the top of this page, then pick a pattern and colours.
  2. Sign in to create the code. Your 3-day trial starts with every feature and no card.
  3. Print a proof and scan it on a few phones, on iPhone and Android, in good and poor light.
  4. Buy the license for $49 when the proof works, then download SVG, EPS, PDF or 300 DPI PNG files for your printer.

After that, change the destination from your account whenever the link needs to move. The steps for editing are in how to edit a QR code after printing.

Free, monthly or one-time: which QR code fits

Question Free static code Monthly dynamic plan One-time editable code
Change the link after printing No Yes, while the plan is paid Yes, any time
What you pay over 5 years $0 Every month (at $15 a month, $900) $49 once
Scan limit None Depends on the plan None
If you stop paying Nothing changes Some plans stop redirecting the code There is no bill to stop
Scan analytics No Yes Yes
Good fit for Wi-Fi, or a link that will never change Short campaigns Packaging, signs, books and anything printed for years

If your link will never change, a free static code does the job. For anything printed in volume or kept for years, compare static, dynamic and permanent codes in detail, or see what a one-time QR code fee covers. If you need it to last, read what makes a forever QR code.

What an editable code can point to

  • Website any page, swapped when the page moves
  • PDF manuals, menus and spec sheets you revise
  • Digital business card a contact card you can update after a job change
  • Restaurant menu new prices without new table cards
  • Multi-link several links behind one code
  • Google Maps a location you can repoint if you move
  • Coupon a new offer each season on the same print
  • App download one code that sends iPhone and Android users to the right store

One-time editable QR code questions

Is a one-time editable QR code really a single payment?

Yes. You pay $49 per code once, or less per code when you buy in volume. There is no monthly plan, renewal or hosting fee after that.

How many times can I change the link?

As many times as you need. There is no edit cap. Every printed copy of the code follows the new link, so nothing has to be reprinted.

Does a one-time editable QR code expire?

No. A licensed code has no end date and no scan limit. The only time limit is the 3-day trial, which applies before you buy.

Is a one-time editable QR code the same as a permanent QR code?

Here, yes. Every code we sell is editable and permanent: one payment, no renewal, and a continuity commitment of 120 days' notice and 10 years of redirects if we ever close.

How is it different from a free QR code?

A free static code stores the link inside the pattern, so it cannot be edited or tracked. An editable code points to a short link you control, so you can change the destination and see scans.

Can I try it before I pay?

Yes. Sign in for a 3-day trial with no card, create the code and test a printed proof. If you buy and change your mind, ask for a full refund within 28 days.

Which file formats do I get?

SVG, EPS, PDF and 300 DPI PNG. Use SVG or EPS for large signs and professional print runs.

Print it once, edit it whenever
