# Forever QR Code

A QR code lasts forever when nothing can switch it off. Ours stays editable, has no renewal and no scan cap, and costs $49 once. Test the exact code free for 3 days, then buy it and it keeps working.

This type is available after you sign in. Your trial includes every type.

Keep strong contrast between the code and its background so it scans reliably in print.

Preview

Preview only. The code you create in your account is the editable permanent code.

3-day trial, no card needed. Then $49 per code, once.

$49, once

No renewal and no monthly plan, so there is no bill that can lapse and switch the code off.

Same code after the trial

Buy within 3 days and the code you tested becomes your licensed code, with the same link.

No caps

Change the destination as often as you need. Scans are unlimited.

28-day refund

A full refund on any purchase within 28 days, with no conditions.

## Used by 1,000+ businesses that put permanent QR codes on what they print

## Why most "forever" QR codes stop working

The printed pattern itself can't expire. What stops is the short link behind it. There are two kinds of code:

- Static codes hold your link inside the pattern. They work for as long as the page they point to exists, and they cannot be edited or tracked.
- Dynamic codes point to a short link the vendor runs, which forwards people to your page. That is what makes them editable, and it is also how they die: when a free trial ends or a monthly plan lapses, the vendor turns the short link off and every printed copy stops scanning.

So a "free forever" dynamic code is often a trial with a later end date. Before you print one, find the sentence in the vendor's terms that says what happens to existing codes when the plan ends.

## What happens when our 3-day trial ends

### If you buy the code

The trial code becomes your licensed code, with the same link. Anything you printed during the trial keeps working, and you can edit it for good.

### If you don't

The code stops redirecting when the 3 days are up. So print test sheets during the trial, and put the code on anything you keep only once you have bought it.

The trial needs no card. To buy, see [how buying works](https://permanentqrcodes.com/how-to-buy/) or the [price for your quantity](https://permanentqrcodes.com/pricing/).

## QR codes that last forever, compared

| Question | Free static code | Free dynamic trial | Monthly dynamic plan | Our editable code |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Keeps working without paying again | Yes | No, it usually stops when the trial ends | Only while the plan is paid | Yes |
| Change the link after printing | No | Yes, until the trial ends | Yes | Yes, with no edit cap |
| What can stop it | The page it points to going offline | The trial ending | A lapsed card or a price change | Only us closing, after 120 days' notice and 10 years of redirects |
| Cost over 5 years | $0 | $0, then a plan | $900 at $15 a month | $49 |
| Scan limit | None | Often capped | Depends on the plan | None |

If your link will never change, a free static code lasts forever and costs nothing, and we would rather you used one. Pay for an editable code when the destination may move, or when you want to see scans. More detail in [QR codes that never expire](https://permanentqrcodes.com/blog/qr-code-that-never-expires-unlimited-scans/) and the [one-time editable QR code](https://permanentqrcodes.com/one-time-editable-qr-code/) guide.

## What "forever" means here

No company can promise to exist forever, so we put the end case in writing. If we ever close, you get at least 120 days' notice, and redirects stay online for 10 years after that, pointing to the last destination you set.

The license has no end date, transfers to another owner and stays valid if your business is sold. Read the [continuity commitment](https://permanentqrcodes.com/permanent-guarantee/) and the [license terms](https://permanentqrcodes.com/perpetual-license/).

## Forever QR code questions

### Does a forever QR code really last forever?

A licensed code has no end date, no renewal and no scan cap, so nothing on our side expires it. If we ever close, we give at least 120 days' notice and keep redirects online for 10 years after that.

### What's the catch?

It is not free. You pay $49 per code once, after a 3-day trial, or less per code in volume. There is no monthly fee after that and no limit on edits.

### What happens when the free trial ends?

If you have not bought the code, it stops redirecting when the 3 days are up. If you have, nothing changes: the trial code becomes your licensed code and keeps working.

### If I buy, do I have to reprint my test code?

No. The code keeps the same link when you buy it, so a proof you printed during the trial keeps working.

### Is there a free QR code that lasts forever?

Yes, a static one. A static code stores the link inside the pattern, so it never expires, but it cannot be changed or tracked after printing. If your link will never move, a static code is enough.

### Can I change a forever QR code after printing?

Yes, as many times as you need. Every printed copy follows the new link, so nothing has to be reprinted.

### Can I hand the code to someone else later?

Yes. Codes transfer one by one to another account, and the licenses stay valid if your business is sold.

### Which files do I get?

SVG, EPS, PDF and 300 DPI PNG. Use SVG or EPS for engraving, large signs and professional print runs.

## Test the code you'll keep

3 days free, no card. Then $49 per code, once, and it keeps working.
